ABOUT LHDI
Site Features
The site and data viewing tools are based on the National Inventory of Dams and feature a national map showing where these structures are nationwide, as well as pages specific to each low-head dam. Site visitors can also use educational webpages to learn and share information about low-head dams in the U.S.
While site visitors can find more than 70 data fields available for dams on pages within the National Inventory of Dams, only a few data fields will initially be available for low-head dams, such as their location and review status, which indicates published data has been reviewed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The quality and availability of information for low-head dams varies greatly. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is committed to working with others to improve available data, and to decide what information might be most helpful to collect and share. Feedback on what data fields and information are most important to display can be shared by emailing us at NID@usace.army.mil.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to publish additional user guides and resources to help users navigate the site and available information in 2026.
